Head coach John Weitz has been coaching
swimming now for 25 years. During that
span he has worked on deck with swimmers ranging from novice to
Olympic gold medalists. A
graduate of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, John began
coaching for the Lakeland Hills YMCA as he finished his Masters in
Teaching degree from Montclair State
University.
After in Internship with Olympic Head Coach
Eddie Reese at the University of Texas, John served as the Head
Coach of the Somerset Hills YMCA where he was three times nominated
for National Coach of the year.
Coach Weitz has also worked extensively in the
college ranks at Seton Hall University, Johns Hopkins and Wabash
College producing numerous national champions and one NCAA
recordholder.
When away from the Pool, John enjoys Skiing
and Sailing volunteering as an instructor at the Downtown Sailing
Center.
Coach Clarke joins our team from the state of New York. He is an
enthusiastic, high energy & spirited coach. He has 7 years
of coaching experience, which includes summer swim league,
technique clinics & youth swim lessons. Coach Clarke encourages
hard work and improvement, along with a strong emphasis on learning
technique and having fun.
Amy began swimming for Campus Cabana at age 6. She is a former
Mariner and went on to swim at the collegiate level and was a NCAA
Division II qualifyer in the 200 breast and 400 IM. Amy began her
coaching career in 2001 for the CMSL Dulaney Dolphins & joined
Mariner Swim Club as a coach in 2007. Previous to college, she also
taught at Mariner Swim School as well as working as a lifeguard.
Amy is a Level 1 certified ASCA coach. She works closely with her
swimmers to share her love of swimming. Amy strives to encourage
fun, while teaching polished stroke technique.
Leslie is the "go to person" for any questions you
may have about the Team, including registration, meet entries,
practice times, billing or any other matter. If
your question needs input from a coach or the Board, Leslie will
make sure that it is directed to the appropriate person and that
you receive a timely response.
Starting on September 2, 2010, Leslie will be at the Gilman pool
on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
and will be available to assist you in person.
